The Shrouded Grave by ShadeDK The Shrouded Grave by ShadeDK
I recently bought myself a digital camera a few days ago - in the effort to encourage myself to get back outside more often. This is a picture taken from the local cemetery (Evergreen Cemetery) in Portland. It's a beautiful place and a lot of people seem to go there for walks and the like.

This is the best of the series I took that day. I cropped the picture so that the two trees border the picture. It gives it a darker feel, as if you're emerging from a great forest to the site of a massive grave, and helps to draw the viewer towards the monument. I hope to post more of my favorite pictures in the weeks to come and any and all feedback would be appreciated.

I do spend hours and days upon days wandering this cemetery, as I reside withinn spitting distance. And you are right, you ALWAYS find something you didn't notice before. I know an old man who goes down there everyday, and he still hasn't seen it all.

Wow, really? I think you're the first OL person I've met that actually lives remotely near me. ;) I'm due back there soon I think. I've been penned up too long and I could probably use some motivation. I'd like to see the sites while the snow hasn't yet fallen, although I should have thought to go at the full bloom of autumn.

Thank you so much for your comment. :)

This shot is simply stunning! Looks like it came right out of a movie or something! Good job!

Thank you! I can't believe how well it came out, considering I really didn't expect to get something within the first few days of obtaining my digital camera. I appreciate the fav!

Whoa, VERY nicely done. It has a real professional quality to it. Take more pictures of non-frozen wasteland Maine! ;)

Dang, that's great! I love how the stairs are sort of dark compared to the toomb itself that's light in color. Gives it kind of a holy feel. I'm almost expecting to see the master sword planted there somewhere =)
And that picture doesn't look all grainy like your first one, s'grand =)

That's sadly exactly the image I got - the whole Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past. ;) The cropping is what makes that feeling though. Otherwise it doesn't look as impressive.

I think the picture quality on that one was fine, and I didn't use any special selections this time like the fish ones I tried to take.
